The Form 1099 MISC recipient copy deadline is January 31. If you are filing through paper forms, the due date is February 28. The electronic filing due date is March 31 for the 2024 tax year. If you are submitting payments in box 8 or 10, the deadline is February 15th.

Note: If the due date/deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, the filer will need to E-file on the next business day.

1099 Forms Extension:

If you need additional time to file your 1099 series information return, you may request a 30-day extension through filing form 8809. This extension is not available for Form 1099 NEC.

Penalties for not Filing before Due Date:

Filing your 1099 information returns with the IRS late may result in a $30-$100/form penalty. Intentionally disregarding 1099 requirements will result in a $250/form penalty.
