Illinois: If you are a full-time resident, you are required to file Form IL-1040. If you have any questions,

PART-YEAR RESIDENT:
If you are a part-time resident, you are required to file Form IL-1040 and Schedule NR. This states that you
earned income from a source within Illinois, and you want a refund of any taxes withheld by the state of

NON-RESIDENT:
If you are a nonresident, you are required to file Form IL-1040 and Schedule NR. This states you earned
enough income from a source in Illinois for tax liability (income from Schedule NR, Step 5, Line 46, is
greater than your Illinois exemption allowance on Schedule NR, Step 5, Line 50) and/or you want a refund of
tax that were withheld in error from the state of Illinois. Note: You must have a letter of explanation from
